A mezuzah (Hebrew: מְזוּזָה, meaning "doorpost"; plural: מְזוּזוֹת, mezuzot) is a piece of parchment inscribed with specific Hebrew verses from the Torah. Jews affix this parchment in a small case to the doorposts of their homes.

Yemenite silversmiths, primarily of Jewish descent, have been active since at least the mid-1700s. Women were the main customers for jewelry which reflected their social status.
